New Exclusive Twin-Turbo V-8

First, letís start with the engine piece of the news. The new 4.2-liter Twin Turbo V-8 is powerful, delivering impressive numbers: 550-horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. (Cadillac also says an optional 500-horsepower version will also be available.)

The engine is designed in a ďhot VĒ configuration. The turbochargers are mounted at the top of the engine ó in the valley between the heads ó something that Cadillac says virtually eliminates turbo lag. You can read more about the intricacies of the engine here.

The engine is mated to GMís 10-speed transmission. But the engine alone is reserved for the Cadillac brand.

The V-8 will see its debut in the upcoming CT6 V-Sport, a sedan destined to become Cadillacís performance flagship. Itís also the first in a series of new Cadillac performance vehicles.

The CT6 V-Sport takes design cues from Cadillacís new design language featured on the Escala Concept. The sedan features Cadillacís large V-mesh grille, along with LED horizontal headlamps. Lower aero components and gloss black side window trim are designed to give it a distinguished look.

The V-Sport will come in two trims: Luxury and Sport. It will also come with Cadillacís new amazing Super Cruise technology that Jerry Reynolds checked out in his 2018 Cadillac CT6 Platinum test drive.

Notable safety and technology additions include new available Rear Pedestrian Detection. It alerts the driver, when in Reverse, of an imminent collision with a pedestrian by providing visual notification on the rearview camera display. The CT6 V-Sport will offer an available industry-first Surround Vision Recorder video recording system. It can record front and rear views while driving, and 360 degrees of recording if the vehicleís security system is activated. Night Vision helps identify people and large animals via heat signatures on a display in the driver information center.

The Cadillac V-Sport lineup already includes the CTS V-Sport and the XTS V-Sport.
