Last Saturday, we spent a few minutes talking with Mark Champine, the head of quality for Fiat Chrysler North America on WBAP that airs in Dallas-Fort Worth. As you know from last week’s newsletter, Dodge ended up #1 on the J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey, which took me by surprise. Dodge was the first domestic automaker ever to achieve this.

Mark was named Head of Quality for FCA - North America in October 2018. Prior to his new position, Champine served as Head of Electrified Powertrain Programs for FCA - North America. He also was Head of Transmission and Driveline Quality and Quality Center Manager for the Kokomo Transmission Plant in Indiana.

His work and academic background includes:

  • 2018 - current, Head of Quality - FCA North America
  • 2018, Head of Electrified Powertrain Programs
  • 2015, Head of Transmission and Driveline Quality
  • 2009, Head of Transmission and Driveline Programs
  • 2006, Quality Center Manager - Kokomo Transmission Plant
  • 2003, Transmission Engineering Lead - 62TE
  • 2000, Transmission Engineering Lead - 4-speed transmission
  • 1998, Torque Converter Engineering

Champine received his MBA and engineering management master’s degree from the University of Detroit Mercy and his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kettering University.

He was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
