Raj Nair, the president of Ford North America, is out.

Nair, who took the position in June of 2017, resigned effective immediately Wednesday following an internal investigation into reports of undisclosed inappropriate behavior.

In announcing the exit, Ford called Nairís behavior inconsistent with the companyís code of conduct.

ďWe made this decision after a thorough review and careful consideration,Ē said Ford President and CEO Jim Hackett. ďFord is deeply committed to providing and nurturing a safe and respectful culture and we expect our leaders to fully uphold these values.Ē

Nair expressed regret about his past behavior.

Said Nair: ďI sincerely regret that there have been instances where I have not exhibited leadership behaviors consistent with the principles that the Company and I have always espoused. I continue to have the utmost faith in the people of Ford Motor Company and wish them continued success in the future.Ē

Nairís career with Ford spanned decades and he was heavily involved in design, engineering, research and product development. That includes Fordís expansion into emerging mobility.

CEO Jim Hackett handed him the post that took effect in June of 2017. Prior to being head of Fordís North American operations, Nair had served as head of Global Product Development and Chief Technical Officer.
