VW Builds 100,000th Atlas Amid Strong SUV Sales

Well, that was fast. Volkswagen says itís built its 100,000th Atlas at its plant in Chattanooga. The milestone comes less than a year and a half after VW started selling its new three-row family hauler in May of 2017.

While VW didnít send out a photo of the actual milestone-making model, the company says it was a 2019 Atlas SEL premium finished in Pacific Blue. Atlas Sales

Volkwagenís September sales results show VW delivered 4,291 Atlas models last month. Thatís an increase over the 4,095 sold in September of 2017.

With the SUV market going strong, Atlas and 2018 Tiguan sales accounted for 37 percent of the brandís total U.S. sales in September. The brand says that number increases to more than 40 percent year-to-date.

2019 Atlas Trims and Features

There is no shortage of Atlas trims or the 2019 model year. Shoppers can choose from an S, SE, SE w/ Technology, SE w/ Technology R-Line, SEL, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium.

New for 2019, Front Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Traffic Alert are now standard on all models. VWís digital cockpit is also now standard on SEL trims. The entry-level Atlas S adds standard automatic headlights,rain-sensing wipers, and heated side mirrors. The SE adds tri-zone climate control. The SE w/ Technology models add two options: a panoramic sunroof along with 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

If audio is important to you, the SEL Premium trim offers the most advanced Fender Premium Audio System found in a Volkswagen to date.

Pricing

There are two engine options to choose from, a 2.0-liter and a 3.6-liter. The 2019 VW Atlas S 2.0-liter starts from $30,895. If you opt for a 3.6-liter model, the S 4Motion starts from $34,095. Destination charges tack on another $995.
