One year after the Nissan GT-R celebrated its 50th anniversary, the 2021 lineup is ready to hit the road. Its supercar status comes with the triple-digit pricing to match. The GT-R Premium model starts from $113,540. But if you want the flagship GT-R NISMO decked out in carbon fiber and outfitted with a turbocharger straight from the GT3 race car, youíll shell out substantially more -- $210,740.
This year, the GT-R extends availability of the Bayside Blue exterior color that was previously reserved for the limited production 2020 GT-R Premium Anniversary Edition.
The Premiumís 3.8-liter V6 engine is rated at 565-horsepower and 467 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed dual clutch transmission with paddle shifters, which can be driver selected to shift at race car-like speeds. A titanium exhaust system is standard.
All 2021 Nissan GT-Rs are built on an exclusive Premium Midship platform, which enables the use of the unique independent rear transaxle ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system.
The more powerful and pricier 2021 GT-R NISMO features carbon fiber components throughout the car, including the front and rear bumpers, front fenders, hood, roof, side sill covers, trunk and rear spoiler. It rides on exclusive 20-inch forged aluminum wheels.
The NISMOís 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 VR38DETT is equipped with turbochargers from the Nissan GT3 race car, which ups its game to 600-horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. It also has a unique NISMO-tuned suspension.
Improvements to the 2021 GT-R include changes to the suspension tuning, that improves cornering stability with an enhanced yaw-rate response and smoother ride quality. Enhanced steering features greater linearity and precision than ever, requiring minimal corrections at track speeds of up to 186 mph. Improved brake performance is due to a special carbon ceramic brake package. It combines Brembo carbon ceramic rotors ó 16.1 inches up front and 15.3 at the rear ó and Brembo calipers.
The GT-R NISMO cabin features heated, reclining leather-appointed Recaro seats with red synthetic suede inserts. The GT-R NISMO also features an Alcantara-appointed steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knob with red accents, and the iconic NISMO red.
The GT-R NISMO comes in Solid Red, Jet Black Pearl, and two premium colors, Super Silver QuadCoat and Pearl White TriCoat. NISMO models all have black side mirrors that differentiate the car from the GT-R Premium.
The NISMO cabin color comes in NISMO-specific black leather appointments with red accents. Seat inserts are Red Synthetic Suede, with Dark Gray Alcantara on the steering wheel, instrument panel and headliner.FOR THE RECORD:
128 GT-Rs were sold nationwide in the first half of 2020.
