FORD (Takata)Safety recall expansion for vehicles containing certain Takata airbag inflatorsAs part of the fourth planned expansion of vehicles included in Takata inflator recalls described in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration�s Takata coordinated remedy order, Ford is expanding its safety recall on vehicles with certain passenger frontal airbag inflators after Takata declared those inflators defective. This action represents a planned expansion of previously recalled vehicles to additional model years within the geographic zones defined earlier by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S01. A total of approximately 953,000 vehicles have been added to this expansion, including 782,384 in the United States and federalized territories and 149,652 in Canada. Affected vehicles include:
Ford is not aware of any injuries associated with the passenger side frontal inflators included in this safety recall. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag inflator or module at no cost to the customer. FORDSafety compliance recall on select 2019 EcoSport vehicles for insufficient front seat back weldFord is issuing a safety compliance recall on certain 2019 Ford EcoSport vehicles with an insufficient weld between the side member and A-bracket on the front seat back. A seat back with an inadequate weld may have reduced strength that may not meet the seat back strength requirements of FMVSS 207/210, potentially increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from this condition. This action affects approximately 87 EcoSport vehicles in North America including 63 in the United States and federalized territories and 13 in Canada. The Ford reference number for this recall is 18C08. Dealers will replace front seats on affected vehicles with new seats. TOYOTAToyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain 2019 Model Year Corolla Hatchback vehicles in the United States. Approximately 3,400 vehicles are involved.In the involved vehicles, there is a possibility the torque converter in the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) could fail. Under certain conditions this could result in a loss of motive power. Loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds could increase the risk of crash. For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will replace the Direct Shift-CVT with a new one containing a new torque converter not affected by this issue at no cost to customers. Toyota is currently obtaining parts. Owners of all involved vehicles will receive direct notification via first-class mail by mid-February. The problem is a locknut in the steering rack may break under high load, possibly causing the steering to become stuck in one position, increasing the risk of a crash. LEXUS/TOYOTAThis safety recalls involve certain 2018-2019 Model Year Tacomas, 2008-2019 Model Year Land Cruisers and 2008-2019 Model Year Lexus LX 570 vehicles in the United States.Land Cruiser and LX 570 Recall Approximately 89,700 vehicles are involved in this recall. The front passenger occupant classification system has a seatbelt tension sensor that could malfunction over time and could cause the airbag warning light and the passenger airbag �OFF� indicator to illuminate. In addition, the front passenger airbag, knee airbag, and the passenger seat-mounted side airbag may be deactivated. If these airbags are deactivated, there is an increased risk of injury to the occupant in the event of a crash. Toyota is currently developing the remedy and will notify owners by mid-February 2019. Tacoma Recall Approximately 44,000 vehicles are involved in this recall. Due to improper manufacturing processes by a part supplier, a seal in certain brake master cylinders may become damaged over time and leak brake fluid internally. The brake pedal feel could change, and front brake performance could be suddenly reduced. This could result in increased vehicle stopping distance and may increase the risk of a crash. For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will replace the brake master cylinder with a new brake master cylinder that is not affected by this condition at no cost to customers. Owners of all involved vehicles will receive direct notification by first-class mail starting in late-January 2019.
