Recall Street Sign

FORD/LINCOLN (#1)

Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety compliance recall for 13,896 2020 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles for a potentially missing manual park release cover. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards require the manual park release cover be in place and only removable with a tool. If the cover is not installed, the manual park release lever may be inadvertently activated, which could result in unintended vehicle movement if the electronic park brake is not applied, increasing the risk of crash

Also, the instrument cluster of affected vehicles may be in factory mode, which disables warning alerts and chimes, and does not display the PRNDL gear positions and which gear is selected. Factory mode is used to reduce battery drain during the production process. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards require the gear positions and selected gear to be displayed whenever the shifter is not in park.

Ford is aware of one report of an accident occurring during vehicle transport within the production process. The incident resulted in only vehicle damage.

This action affects 13,896 vehicles in the United States and 239 in Canada. The majority of affected vehicles are in dealer inventory. The issue will be remedied prior to delivery to customers.

Affected vehicles were built at Chicago Assembly Plant and include:

  • 2020 Ford Explorer vehicles built from March 27, 2019 to July 24, 2019
  • 2020 Lincoln Aviator vehicles built from April 10, 2019 to July 24, 2019

Dealers will inspect for the manual park release cover and install one, if necessary. Dealers will also verify the instrument cluster is out of factory mode and clear any diagnostic codes. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19C06.

FORD/LINCOLN (#2)

Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety recall for 2015 Ford Fusion and 2015 Lincoln MKZ vehicles for an issue involving seat belt anchor pretensioners. In affected vehicles, increased temperatures generated during deployment of the driver or front-passenger seat belt anchor pretensioner could degrade the tensile strength of the cable below the level needed to restrain an occupant. Seat belt assemblies that do not adequately restrain the occupant in a crash can increase the risk of injury.

Ford is aware of one report of injury related to this condition.

This action affects 103,374 vehicles in the United States and federal territories, 4,002 in Canada and 1,023 in Mexico.

Affected vehicles include:

  • 2015 Ford Fusion vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant from Aug. 1, 2014 to Jan. 30, 2015 and at Hermosillo Assembly Plant from Aug. 1, 2014 to Nov. 24, 2014
  • 2015 Lincoln MKZ vehicles built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant from Aug. 1, 2014 to Nov. 21, 2014

Dealers will apply a coating to protect the cable during a pretensioner deployment. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S25.

MAZDA

NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V558000

Manufacturer Mazda North American Operations

Components VISIBILITY

Potential Number of Units Affected 22,571

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 22,600 model-year 2019 Mazda3 sedans and hatchbacks equipped with manual dimming mirrors.

Summary: Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2019 Mazda3 vehicles equipped with manual dimming mirrors. The adhesive between the interior rearview mirror and the housing may not be properly bonded, allowing the mirror to detach from the housing. Note: Vehicles equipped with auto dimming mirrors are not affected by this recall.

Remedy: Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the interior rearview mirror assembly, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin August 30, 2019. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500, option 4. Mazda's number for this recall is 3919G.

TOYOTA

Vehicles Affected: Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain 2019 RAV4/RAV4 Hybrid vehicles in North America. Approximately 18,000 vehicles are involved in this recall.

Summary: The involved vehicles are equipped with a back-up camera system which activates to show the area behind the vehicle when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. In these vehicles, there is a possibility that a damaged connector in the audio display unit is causing the back-up camera system not to activate. If the driver reverses the vehicle without checking his/her surroundings when the vehicle has this condition, there can be an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy: If the backup camera system is found to be inoperative as a result of this condition, Toyota dealers will replace the audio display unit with a new one at no cost to customers.

Notes: Toyota will notify owners by first-class mail no later than early October. Owners can call Toyota at 800-331-433. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
