Now this is the Super Bowl commercial we’ve been waiting for. Actually, we don’t even have to wait for it, it’s already up online.
It’s a spot for the new Acura NSX supercar which will hit the road this spring.
The 30-second commercial is set to Van Halen’s Runnin’ with the Devil. It’s pretty great so we’re just going to get down to it and show you the video now. PS make sure you turn up the volume.
By the way, for all you Van Halen and David Lee Roth fans out there, this is the first time Van Halen has released Runnin’ with the Devil for use in advertising. There will be a one-minute spot as well.
Along with the commercial, Acura will launch a Twitter sweepstakes. Viewers who tweet #DriveAcuraNSXContest and tag a friend while watching the ad will be automatically entered to win a VIP NSX driving experience.
Acura will start building the long-awaited NSX hybrid this spring at its plant in Ohio and the order books will open on February 25th. It will go on sale for a starting price of $156,000 and top out around $206,000 when it’s loaded with all the options.
Acura is one of at least nine automakers that will advertise in this year’s Super Bowl 50. Audi, Buick, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mini and Toyota are also expected to air commercials. Volkswagen, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz and Ford say they’ll sit this one out this year. A 30-second spot during the game is going for an estimated $5 million.
Super Bowl 50 airs on Sunday, February 7th.
