Just as the leaves are getting ready for fall for Autumn, Nissan is giving us a heads up on what the all-new 2018 Leaf will look like.
Okay so that’s only partly true, Nissan’s still doing its best to keep the 2018 Leaf under wraps until its global debut on September 5th (though some unofficial spy shots have been slipping out) but the automaker’s out with a new teaser sketch of the model’s profile. The shot highlights the new more aerodynamic lines. It looks gorgeous and sharp with an adorable little spoiler and more modern hatch back lines.
Check out the below video. An artsy take showing how Nissan designers came up with the aerodynamic lines.
The redesigned Leaf looks lower to the ground creating zero lift and a more stable drive than the current model at higher speeds. Meaning, its lower center of gravity will make it less susceptible to side winds and pressure from passing cars and trucks.
Looks aren’t all that’s new though on the next-generation Leaf. Its new battery pack system is more energy dense promising a longer range. The Leaf is expected to have an electric range of 200 miles or more. That would help it compete with the Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model 3. The price point is expected to be in the mid-30’s as well.
Earlier this year, Nissan also confirmed the Leaf will get the automaker’s ProPILOT driver’s assist system.
