Infiniti is laying out its all-new 2017 QX30 crossover lineup which goes on sale in mid-2016. It’s an important vehicle for the brand since it’s Infiniti’s first entry into the hot compact premium SUV segment. And as you might imagine, Infiniti is targeting younger premium buyers with the new SUV.
The lineup will come in three different models: the QX30, QX30S and QX30. While they’ll all basically look the same inside and out, there will be tweaks here and there to set each of them apart.
- The QX30 model, which gets an asymmetric cabin design, will be offered as a front-wheel-drive. This version is sold in Europe under the Q30 name.
- The QX30S is the sports version of the lineup. So it will get a lower stance than the QX30, along with a cross-drilled front brake rotors, 19-inch wheels and performance tires.
- The QX30 AWD gets, as the name implies, four-wheel-drive. If any of the models were a take on off-roading this one would be it. It will offer a slightly higher ride and off-road inspired front and rear valence panels. The QX30 AWD debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show as the QX30.
While each model has its own personality, so to speak, all of them will share the same engine under the hood. They’ll be powered by a 208-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
Technology wise, the QX30 comes with all the things you’d expect like Intelligent Park Assist and Cruise Control.
The first models rolled off the production line in the UK in early December. It’s the first Infiniti vehicle built in Europe and the first exports go to China and the U.S.
Meanwhile, the 2017 Infiniti Q60 sport coupe will make its world debut January 11, 2016 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
