Andy Williams Had Ties to Chevy, Fiat – Car Pro News

Crooner Andy Williams, who just died at 84, discovered the value of automaker tie-ins over his long career.
In 1958, he starred in a TV show that lasted two seasons called The Chevy Showroom with Andy Williams, IMDb.com reports. That was several years before Moon River would boost him to stardom. The variety show did help launch others like Dick Van Dyke, and his sitcom sidekick, Morey Amsterdam.
Many years later, in 1999, Fiat would use Andy Williams’ 1967 hit Music to Watch Girls Go By for a sexy TV ad in Europe to hawk its Punto car. It featured a couple driving around while the guy ogles women. His female passenger exacts revenge.
The ad was so popular that the song was re-released and popular in Europe, introducing him to a new generation.
