2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
Get ready for the beast that is the 640 horsepower 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The drag-strip ready sportster is supercharged with a 6.2-liter V8 engine under the hood, and yes, it has our attention.
You get either a six-speed manual or GM’s all-new 10-speed automatic (which, by the way, GM will be bringing to eight models in its lineup by 2018.) Yes, we’re talking two more gears than the eight-speed Camaro SS and four more than the previous ZL1. Along with the 640 horses under the hood you get a matching 640 pound-feet of torque.
The 10-speed automatic has 7.39 overall ratio for smaller steps between gears. It allows the LT4 engine to remain at optimal rpm levels during acceleration, particularly when exiting corners, for quicker laps and lightning-quick responses on both up- and down-shifts. The ZL1 features an updated Magnetic Ride suspension, Performance Traction Management, electronic limited-slip differential, Custom Launch Control and Driver Mode Selector. With a stronger power-to-weight ratio than its predecessor, it also weighs 200 pounds less than its predecessor.
In the design department, it’s really all about airflow. One goal was to really manage airflow over, under and through the ZL1. For instance, the front lower grill intake offers greater airflow compared to the SS and the upper grill uses a new version of the “flow-tie” open bowtie insignia.
This 640 hp beast is expected to go on sale late this year.
2017 MERCEDES-BENZ CLA
Mercedes-Benz will reveal its updated 2017 CLA at the upcoming New York Auto Auto Show. The 2017 gets new Active-Brake assist autonomous braking and a rearview camera both as standard. Hands-Free access is an optional convenience feature.
There are some design tweaks, too. The CLA gets a new front bumper with a silver, black or chrome trim strip. The rear bumper is optionally available with a panel incorporating a trim strip in chrome or black between the tailpipes. The tailpipe trim panels themselves are now integrated flush into the bumper. Most of the available wheels now feature a new design – overall, six different wheels are available to chose from for the CLA250. There’s also a new Lunar Blue paint available.
If you want a more aggressive look, you can opt for the AMG aerodynamics package. The Mercedes-AMG CLA45 now features even more dynamic styling and a further upgraded interior. It will deliver 375 hp and maximum torque of 350 pound-feet of torque.
The new 2017 CLA will be available later this year.
