If there is one thing that can be said of 2015, it’s that it was the year of the sport-utility-vehicle. The huge demand for SUVs is expected to help make December the best auto sales month since 2005.
The reason they’re selling like hotcakes is far from a mystery. It’s due to incredibly low gas prices which have made drivers care less about fuel economy. Cheap car loans are only sweetening the deal.
Automakers also spent the past year scurrying to bring smaller crossover SUVs to the market to meet the demand for young families. So there are no lack of options at every price point.
The Car Pro’s Jerry Reynolds test drove dozens of vehicles this year including this year’s big hits in the SUV department. Here are his top 5 SUV picks of the year in this week’s auto news!
2015 Ford Edge Titanium: “I was extremely enamored with the 2015 Ford Edge Titanium I had and thought it was an outstanding value.”
2016 Honda Pilot: “For the 2016 model year, the Honda Pilot is a game changer in SUVs. Honda addressed and corrected everything I did not like about the old version.”
2016 Volvo SC90: “A new entry that is taking the industry by storm is the 2016 Volvo XC90. It is as an enjoyable SUV as I’ve ever driven and was priced extremely well.”
