I’m Laura Reynolds with CarProUSA. Senior Researcher AAA Foundation Traffic Brian Tefft says new research shows how people’s driving habits have changed since the Pandemic. Tefft: "What we wanted to learn with our study is what is the impact on who is traveling, and when and where and why because these are all pieces of the puzzle that help us to understand the relationship between travel among the American public,  the COVID 19 pandemic and traffic safety as we've unfortunately seen that although the amount we're traveling has decreased substantially since the onset of the pandemic we've actually seen motor vehicle traffic fatalities moving in the wrong direction. The data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that fatalities were actually up about 7 percent last year in 2020. We thought that by conducting more research, that can help us to understand what's going on and what are the issues that we really need to be attentive to. " With today's Auto News, I'm Laura Reynolds.
