I'm Laura Reynolds with CarProUSA.com. General Motors Senior Manager of Sustainable Energy and Vice Chair of the Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance Rob Threlkeld says GM and partner Shell offer renewable energy charging hours for EVs. Threlkeld: "Value that can be attributed not only just owning the vehicle, but there's value in how that battery then functions as a resource. You're going to see a lot of that opportunity coming you know as we look at the markets and as we look at our customers and as we look at what EVs could potentially bring that could benefit the customer in the long run. I don't have the full numbers or anything of that nature but we're always studying to see how all of these different components can come together and how can we form partnerships like we've done with Shell to in order to really enable the customer to receive that value. Because it's enabling them to control how they think about charging that electric vehicle. In reality your two largest sources of electricity consumption in your home is your air conditioner and then it will be your EV. So if you can figure out ways to really mange those two applications, you've controlled a significant amount of your electricity costs. You can shift some of those around, that's sizable savings to the consumer. " For more information on these and other vehicles, check out CarProUSA.com. With today's Auto News I'm Laura Reynolds.
