This hot little number is none other than the Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6e concept. It’s not just Bentley’s vision of an all-electric grand touring coupe. It also gives us an inkling of what we can except with the 2018 Continental GT convertible.
Bentley unveiled the gorgeous two-door at the Geneva Motor Show this week. It’s stunning on the outside, and we’d expect nothing less from the German-owned British brand. However, it’s the inside that makes the bigger impression.
I mean just look at it. The craftsmanship and materials involved here can’t be understated. The rich, quilted seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel are just a few highlights. Check out the center console. It’s made from a solid piece of curved glass that covers a high-definition OLED screen. Handmade, cut-glass sections on the steering wheel contain the controls for media, communications, navigation and car set-up.
Bentley says the exterior is designed to be sporty and athletic with a short front overhang, long bonnet, low grille and wide rear. You can’t miss the grille coming at you either. When the car is running its ‘6e’ logo lights up. Other cool features include wing mirrors that feature cameras instead of traditional glass.
New high-performance technology includes rapid inductive charging and state-of-the-art on-board concierge-style services. Being a grand touring vehicle, Bentley says drivers could go between Paris and London on a single charge for instance.
The EXP 12 speed 6e is just a concept for now, but Bentley is serious about its electric plans. The automaker plans to introduce a Bentayga plug-in hybrid model in 2018 and expand its electrification strategy across the range from there.
