Those of you waiting for Volvo's first purely electric vehicle won't have to wait much longer. The new all-electric 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge will arrive later this year starting from $58,750 before any potential state or federal tax credits. That's a pricier than some other EV models out there including the Volkswagen ID.4 , the Chevrolet Bolt EUV as well as the Mustang Mach E and Tesla Model Y. The C40 is only sold online.
Volvo C40
Based on the XC40 Recharge, the C40 has a lower roofline. It's also the first Volvo vehicle with a 100% leather-free interior, including the steering wheel, gear shifter and upholstery. One upholstery option is made of naturally renewable wool fibers, and a second option combines suede textile (also made of recycled plastic) and micro-tech material.

The C40 Recharge will come in just one trim - the Ultimate model. (The 2022 XC40 Recharge will come in either Plus or Ultimate grades.) It's loaded with every available feature including Android Operating System with Google imbedded, a Panoramic Moonroof, Pixel LED lighting, Pilot Assist, Harman Kardon Premium Sound, 360° Surround View Camera and unique 20” wheels.
Customers can choose the Fjord Blue Carpet for no additional charge and it may be combined with 4 of the 7 exterior paint colors.

Charging
Volvo gives an estimated projected range of over 200 miles on a full charge. Official EPA estimates aren't yet available. All model year 2022 electric vehicles in the U.S. will come with 250 kWh of complimentary charging on Electrify America’s network, to be used within the first 3 years. After that, customers will automatically be eligible for Electrify America’s Pass, and Volvo will pay membership fees for one year. This gives owners a charging discount. As of now, Electrify America’s network includes 635 public fast-charging stations and is growing. This collaboration, combined with Volvo Car USA’s existing ChargePoint affiliation, ensures Volvo pure electric vehicle customers will have easy access to thousands of public charging stations across America.
Availability and Ordering
You can only buy the C40 online and pre-orders opened in March on volvocars.us. Vehicle production starts in Ghent, Belgium this fall with the first U.S. customer deliveries planned for the fourth quarter of 2021.
