SUVs took a slight decline in sales this year versus October of 2020, strictly due to the microchip shortages. In fact, out of the top 20 best-sellers, only 3 SUVs sold more this year than last.
Bear in mind, not all automakers report monthly, and we won’t see the full picture until early January.
Like network coverage of an election where races are called early, there is no doubt the Toyota RAV4 will be the #1 selling SUV in America for 2021 and the Honda CR-V will end up #2. It also appears the Toyota Highlander will finish #3, but it is a bit too early to call that one.
