Jeep is sharing what's new for the 2022 Cherokee as well as reminding us of the SUVs tried-and-true capabilities. There are four models for the 2022 model year thanks to the addition of a new X trim. It joins the Latitude LUX, Trailhawk and Limited grades. All but the Latitude LUX are available only as 4X4.

New for 2022

Exterior Tweaks

A few exterior tweaks across the lineup for 2022 align the Jeep with the latest brand styling.  Jeep made some refinements to the front fascia, hood, premium LED headlamps, daytime running lamps and fog lamps. Front bi-LED projector headlamps incorporate signature Cherokee daytime running lamps featured as a singular component.

X Trim Added

A new Cherokee X trim pairs rugged off-road Jeep brand styling cues with a distinguishable on-road front fascia and new graphics for a unique exterior appearance. It also includes upgraded cloth/vinyl seats with unique inserts, 1-inch lifted suspension and standard 3.2-liter engine (with late availability).

The 2022 Cherokee lineup features two engine choices:

  • Class-exclusive 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that delivers up to 29 mpg highway along with 271-horsepower and 239 lb.-ft. of torque.

Both are mated to a standard nine-speed automatic transmission and industry-first rear-axle disconnect, which Jeep says reduces energy loss and improves fuel efficiency when 4x4 capability isn’t needed.
