Buick GMC to Get New Models – Car Pro News

General Motors announced that the vehicle lineups in its Buick and GMC divisions will be bolstered by the addition of nine all-new or significantly redesigned models during the course of the next year. The first two new faces in this product barrage will be the 2013 Buick Enclave and 2013 GMC Acadia crossovers which go on sale later this fall. Next year will see revamped Buick Regal and Buick LaCrosse sedans roll into showrooms along with redone GMC Sierra/Sierra HD full-size pickups and GMC Yukon/ Yukon XL full-size SUVs.
Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick and GMC Marketing, also confirmed the return of the GMC Canyon mid-size pickup as an all-new model to be built in the Wentzville, Missouri plant alongside of the also resurrected Chevrolet Colorado.
“While we continue to make strong progress in fuel economy gains on our full-size trucks, we know that there is a group of customers who want the functionality of a truck, but may not need full-size pickup,” said DiSalle. “We believe that introducing a new, agile and efficient mid-size Canyon will meet the needs of many pickup buyers.”
The Buick/GMC initiative is part of GM’s more aggressive product push to enhance its competitive position in the market. Overall, the automaker says it will have 70 percent all-new or significantly refreshed vehicle lines across its four U.S. brands in the 2012-2013 window. The only pricing information to accompany this new-product announcement was that the 2013 Buick Encore would start at $24,950.
