Cadillac Recalls ELR from 2013-2014

Cadillac logoCadillac has announced the recall of its ELR plug-in coupe over a stability control glitch. The safety campaign covers ELR cars from the 2014 model year not equipped with adaptive cruise control.

According to General Motors, Cadillac ELR models produced between September 26, 2013, and February 14, 2014, may have a bug in their electronic stability control (ESC) software that prevents the system from warning the driver if the ESC system is partially or fully disabled.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warns that the system flaw could result in an unexpected loss of traction, increasing the likelihood of a crash.

Cadillac dealers will remedy the problem by recalibrating the ELR’s Electronic Brake Control Module. The recall, which covers just 656 units, will begin on April 17.

No crashes or injuries have been linked to the recall.
