Check Out The Kia Stinger Experience

Kia Stinger Experience

The all-new Kia Stinger is winning accolades left and right.

Over the last month, Kia’s first-ever performance sports sedan has been named “Vehicle of the Year” by Roadshow by CNET, “Best of the Year” by MotorWeek. It also took center stage in Kia Motors’ Super Bowl ad.

Now, Kia wants to show you what the hype is all about by hosting The Kia Stinger Experience.

Kia Stinger Experience

The event is a chance to test drive the Kia in select cities and compare it against German rivals.  (I’ll be checking it out myself in a few days so stay tuned for my report next week.)

Accompanied by a professional driving instructor, Stinger Experience participants will take on several dynamic challenges in the Stinger GT, as well as in the Audi A5, BMW 640i Gran Coupe, and Porsche Panamera. You’ll take the car through its paces that include a 0-60 MPH acceleration run, cornering tests and a slalom course.

“With a faster top-speed and 0-60 time than a six-cylinder Porsche Panamera, the Stinger GT is like nothing anyone has ever seen from Kia before and must be driven to be fully appreciated and understood,” said Saad Chehab, vice president, marketing communications, Kia Motors America. “The Stinger Experience gives people an opportunity to see and feel for themselves just how far Kia has come, and that the Stinger can hold its head high against some of the best that Germany has to offer.”

You’ll need to sign up for a spot on the registration page of one of the cities below:

Upcoming Tour Stops

  • Dallas: March 3-4
  • Washington D.C.: March 10-11

  • Chicago: April 7-8

About the Stinger

Designed in Frankfurt and developed on Germany’s famed Nürburgring under the watchful eyes of two auto industry legends – Peter Schreyer, Kia Motors’ chief design officer, and Albert Biermann, president and head of vehicle test and high-performance development – the Stinger delivers head-turning design, premium amenities and heart-pounding power at an incredibly value-packed price. Available in both rear- and all-wheel-drive, the Stinger GT trim, with its twin-turbo V6, produces 365 horsepower and pushes the sports sedan to a top speed of 167 miles per hour and from zero to 60 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds.

I find it kind of odd they feel the need to do marketing like this on a new car That’s gotten more than it’s fair share of buzz in the automotive media. After driving one, and coming close to buying one, Kia should be selling these before they even hit the lot.

The reason they may not be selling as well as they’d like: their craptacular dealers. The carpro Kia dealer was awesome. The other Kia dealer was basically a buy here/pay here lot with nicer cars. I might put up with crap service if it was the only way I could get a new car and I really needed a new car. People buying a $50k vehicle (Not including the $10k dealer markup they wanted to add) generally expect at least a decent level of customer service.

I hear ya, this is a new type of product for Kia, so I think they feel the need to do something different, trying to give themselves a little different audience. Your point is well taken and THANKS for listening to the show!

The link for the stinger experience registration page doesn’t take you there. It’s just a second link to find a carpro dealer.

I am disappointed with the experience.
    1. It last about 40-45min. Whole driving experience last not more than 10min. The rest just talking.
    2. You can drive only 2 cars. Stinger and one of the competitors, but not all three of them.
    3. You would be able to drive Stinger only One TIME around the course! Takes under 2min.
    4. Instractor does nothing, exept will take you for a ride ones in Stinger around the course.
By the way disappointed with Stinger too…
