Chevrolet is recalling 2012 Captiva Sport models for a parking brake issue. The parking brake cable may not be properly connected on some models. The recall doesn’t affect retail customers, since the Captiva is sold only to rental fleets. However, GM will notify rental companies with affected Captiva Sport models around July 18. Dealers will inspect the cars and fix the problem if the issue is detected. Of course, this depends on how responsive the rental companies are to the recall itself, as there have been many reports of them ignoring or delaying recall repairs. Regardless, more responsible rental agencies can call GM (866) 694-6546, using campaign ID number 12217.
