Detroit’s Big Three automakers dominated the 2013 Detroit News Readers’ Choice Awards at the North American International Auto Show.
Detroit News Editor and Publisher Jonathan Wolman announced the winners at a meeting of the Detroit Economic Club at Cobo Center.
“We had a headline in our newspaper earlier this week declaring ‘Detroit shows its mojo is back,’ ” Wolman said.
“If you’ve had a chance to walk through the 2013 North American International Auto Show, you know exactly what we mean.”
In fact, American automakers won nine of the 10 categories judged by a panel of Detroit News readers who toured the show floor Wednesday.
The only foreign make to win was BMW’s i8, which was named “Best future fantasy.”
The big winner was Chevrolet’s heralded seventh-generation Corvette Stingray. It won three Readers’ Choice awards: Best of Show, sexiest and best curves.
