DFW Dealers Donate $110,000 to West Victims – Car Pro News

DFW Dealers Donate to WestDallas-area new-car dealers raised $110,000 to assist the stricken town of West.
A massive explosion at a fertilizer plant in West on April 17 killed 15 people and destroyed or damaged homes, schools and a nursing home in the town north of Waco.
Tom Durant, chairman of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan New Car Dealers Association, and Lee Chapman, president of the organization, presented West Mayor Tommy Muska with a check for the $110,000 on Tuesday of last week.
Besides the dealership contributions, some dealership employees wrote personal checks to help in West’s rebuilding, Durant said. Tom Durant owns Car Pro endorsed Classic dealerships in DFW, Houston, and Galveston.
“Lives have been lost, dozens of homes have been destroyed, schools and a nursing home were heavily damaged and many families have been displaced, so it is going to take a long time for these folks to rebuild their lives and their community,” Durant said. “Hopefully, this money will assist them in this long journey.”
Muska said $1.8 million has been raised for the city of West.
“Please know that this money will be used for people who really need it,” Muska said.
