May the Force Friday be with you. This Friday, Dodge is providing Uber NYC with eight Star Wars Stormtrooper Chargers, including one in a Hellcat trim, for a Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Hot Wheels promotion.
Each of the eight Chargers is decked out to be a real life version of the Hot Wheels toy car Stormtrooper model. Every detail is complete with black and white body and windows that perfectly mimic the look of a Stormtrooper helmet.
“Dodge was happy to provide eight Dodge Chargers including SRT 392 vehicles, a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and other trim levels, to Mattel and Uber for this special promotion. May the Force be With You ‘Star Wars’ and Dodge fans,” says an FCA spokesperson.
The best part of the promotion is for New York City Uber users who have the opportunity to take 30 minute Stormtrooper Charger freeride by using the code HOTWHEELFF. Not only that, but the lucky riders also get Star Wars: The Force Awakens Hot Wheels diecast cars as momentos.
The toy car maker tells Automotive News that it specifically chose the Charger because it, “embodies the look and feel of the Hot Wheels Stormtrooper diecast car and is sure to turn heads when traversing on the streets of NYC on ‘Force Friday.’”
Unfortunately, Dodge is not making plans to put the special Stormtrooper models into production. However, for drivers interested in storming the roads, there is still the option of the latest 2016 Dodge Charger, which offers a standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. There is also the R/T Scat Pack version that packs a “naturally aspirated” 485 horsepower, 6.4-liter, HEMI V8 engine with 475 lb-ft of torque. For drivers brave enough to take on the Death Star, there is the top of the line Charger Hellcat option that is the fastest and most powerful muscle car to date. It packs 707 horsepower, yes 707, with a 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engine with 650 lb-ft of torque.
Ordering of the new 2016 Charger begins this month for already sold models and next month for regular dealership orders.
The seventh Star Wars saga is set to arrive in theaters December 18th.
