A new recall involving the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This one because you might get stuck in PARK or NEUTRAL when you don’t want to be.
The recall involves 32,267 2016 model-year Jeep Grand Cherokees in the US. The issue is an electrical one. A defective wire-harness could cause the vehicle shifter to become locked in “PARK” or “NEUTRAL” once the vehicle is brought to a stop. An investigation traced the cause to supplied wiring harnesses, some of which may have been incorrectly crimped.
FCA says it’s not aware of any potentially related injuries or accidents. This campaign is unrelated to any previous recall.
If you own one, FCA advises you to use the parking brake when you exit the vehicle. Affected customers will be notified when they may schedule service.
