Take out your stopwatch and keep your eyes peeled. Otherwise you just might miss the fastest-ever four-door Bentley. The new flagship Flying Spur W12 S is speeding into the lineup at 200 mph. Now that’s sedan life done right.
Okay. So that might only a little bit of a gain compared to last years model, but bragging rights are certainly not overrated when it comes to joining the 200 mph club.
The extra shot of power comes from a new range-topping W12 S engine. The engine carries the tried and true twin-turbocharger 6.0-liter W12, but then the S dials it up to an output of 626-horse sand 605 pound-feet of torque. That’s nothing to sneeze at and we advise you don’t or you might miss the Flying Spur flying by.
The Flying Spur will hit 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. Keep the pedal to the medal and the model will cruise at 202 mph. Inevitably, you’ll have to stop eventually. Bentley keeps the transition smooth with optional carbon-ceramic brakes in black or red.
Eight-speed automatic with rear-biased all-wheel drive remains standard. The model’s suspension is retuned to match handling to the faster speed.
The model goes dark with new gloss-black body details including on the radiator, window surrounds, lights, rear bumper, door handle inserts, and headlight washer caps. If you’re going all out – and why not once you’re at the Bentley level? – the model offers optional 21” Sport 5-spoke wheels in gloss black or dark tint.
The interior is all the luxury you expect from Bentley. It offers 17 “hide” colors with contrast stitching and diamond quilting. Tech includes a Touch Screen Remote that allows rear passengers to control the climate and infotainment system.
The model debuts at the Paris Motor Show later this month. It will arrive in dealerships before the end of the year.
