Hyundai is recalling over 600,000 vehicles in two separate recalls.
2013-2017 Santa Fe/Santa Fe Sport
The first one involves the Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport. The recall is to fix a secondary hood latch cable that may not engage properly. So the hood could open unexpectedly while driving. It impacts 4374000 models.
“If the hood is not securely closed or the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash,” NHTSA recall documents warn.
Another recall involves 161,000 Sonata and Genesis models over a parking brake light issue. It doesn’t always come on when the parking brake is on so a driver won’t realize it and could start to drive off. This isn’t good for the parking brake and could impact brake performance. Check out the NHTSA document here.
The recalls are expected to start June 30th. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
