Hyundai is recalling approximately 444,000 model-year 2011-14 Hyundai Sonata and model-year 2011-15 Sonata Hybrid sedans repaired under a previous recall in March.
The problem involves the seat belts linkages in the front seats. They may detach from the seat belt anchor pretensioners, and not properly restrain the occupant in the event of a crash.
The first recall occurred in February of 2017. You can read the NHTSA recall notice here.
Dealers will again check the connection between the seat belt linkage and the pretensioner. In addition, a warning label will be affixed to the anchor pretensioner.
Hyundai will begin notifying owners this month. Owners can call the automaker at 855-371-9460, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
