If there is ground zero for truck wars, it’s Texas.
The Lone Star State is a battle ground for truck makers every year, and no more so than at the State Fair of Texas each fall. It’s where we can expect to see automakers roll out several special Texas editions and this year was no different.
2017 Ram 1500 Texas Edition
Ram took the wraps off the new Silver Edition of its 2017 Ram 1500 Lone Star. The Lone Star is the top-selling truck in Texas.
The new Silver Edition trim gets you premium upgrades including a chromed-up grille, side-view mirrors, and wheel-to-wheel side steps. It also features polished 20-inch wheels and front tow hooks.
A milled-aluminum Lone Star badge also greets you on the front grille. Inside, the 2017 Ram 1500 Lone Star Silver Edition interior features a new sporty cloth and vinyl high-back bucket seats.
The Lone Star Silver Edition is available on the Ram 1500 4×2 and 4×4 Crew Cab, and short and long box-length configurations. You have your choice of a 3.6-liter V-6, 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 or 3.0-liter EcoDiesel powertrain. The Silver Edition arrives later this year. The package is priced at $900 with a starting price of $38,995, plus a $1,320 destination charge.
Nissan’s big news is the chromed-out 2017 Texas TITAN. It’s a special custom equipment package that will be offered on both the TITAN XD and TITAN Crew Cab models.
The package features a special chrome grille and 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. Add to that metallic-finish kick plates, special Texas TITAN floor mats and chrome exhaust finishers. Of course, there is Texas TITAN badging everywhere.
The full-size TITAN pickup is going into its second year of production. Nissan is touting its bumper-to-bumper coverage of 5-years/100,000-miles, whichever comes first.
