Jaguar Land Rover is doubling down on plans to electrify its entire lineup. The automaker says every vehicle launched from 2020 forward will be electric in some way. We’re talking either all-electric or a hybrid of some type.
Jaguar’s first fully electric SUV the I-PACE goes on sale next year. We checked out the concept out at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year.

Jaguar says it will also electrify the iconic E-Type, bringing it out of the past and very much into the future. It’s dubbed the E-Type Zero. It’s based on the 1968 Series 1.5 Roadster and features a cutting-edge electric powertrain for 0-60mph in just 5.5 seconds. It was engineered by Jaguar Classic at the company’s new Classic Works in Warwickshire, UK.
Jaguar is also showing off its vision of the future with the FUTURE-TYPE concept. It’s an autonomous, connected, electric vehicle designed for 2040 and beyond.
The heart of the FUTURE-TYPE is what Jaguar calls “Sayer”. It’s a voice activated AI steering wheel that you’ll apparently be able to remove and take inside the house. Jaguar says it will be able to answer your questions, connect you to the news, make travel plans and select your entertainment. It will even be able to order a pizza for you and place your grocery order.
All of this news came down this week at Jaguar Land Rover’s inaugural Tech Fest, an event that explores the positive role technology is playing in reshaping the automotive industry and beyond.
