Fiat Chrysler is recalling vehicles from three brands to replace their occupant restraint control modules because their head restraints may not deploy properly in the event of a crash.
Approximately 414,000 models are included in the recall:
- 2012 Jeep Liberty
- 2012-13 Chrysler 200
- 2012-13 Dodge Avenger
According to a press release, FCA launched an investigation into the issue following a NHTSA inquiry. It discovered that a component common to the modules of certain vehicles may degrade after extensive vehicle use. The condition may also illuminate an instrument-cluster warning light.
FCA says it’s not aware of any associated accidents or injuries associated with the issue.
Dealers will replace the occupant restraint control modules for free. FCA will notify owners starting in November. They can also call the automaker at 800-853-1403 for more information.
