The NFL’s TV ratings may not be so great this year, but that won’t keep Kia from advertising in the Big Game. The automaker says it will advertise in the Super Bowl for the eighth straight year.
Kia is the first automaker to confirm it will buy a spot in the game. Toyota’s already announced it’s sitting out this year. Other brands who ran spots in 2016’s game were Acura, Buick, Honda, Hyundai, Jeep and Mini. We wouldn’t be surprised if Jeep and Mini returned this year at the very least. Mini has the new 2017 Countryman coming out and Jeep its all-new 2017 Compass compact SUV, which will replace the Patriot.
Last year, Kia hired Christopher Walken to pitch the Optima sedan in a 60-second spot. But so far Kia is staying mum on its plans for this year.
The Super Bowl, which will be played in Houston, airs on Fox February 5th.
