Range Rover is gearing up to do battle against BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the crossover coupe department.
The automaker is reportedly prepping the 2018 Range Rover Sport Coupe to battle with the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. (By the way, the Range Rover Sport Coupe is in addition to the already announced Range Rover Evoque Coupe.)
Recent spy photos show the second coupe-styled Range Rover, code-named L560, in the wild. It features a sloped-roof and sports a lower ride and wide stance than the Range Rover Sport, a look that’s in line with both the X6 and GLE Coupe.
The model is reportedly based on the same aluminum-architecture platform of the new F-Pace SUV. The interior is expected to look more like a cockpit than current models.
Nothing is confirmed in terms of powertrains. It could get the four-cylinder used in the F-Pace. However, Jaguar Land Rover has an extensive line of six- and eight-cylinder diesel and petrol engines to choose from, too. An electric option is highly likely as well.
The 2018 Range Rover Sport Coupe is expected to roll out as early as next year.
