Last 2017 Ford Raptor Nets $157K For Charity

The final 2017 model year Ford Raptor is already spoken for. It sold Friday at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Auction for $157,000 with all proceeds benefiting charity.

Since the pickup hasn’t been built yet, the winning bidder of the last VIN produced for 2017 will be able to choose a unique “one-of-one” paint color. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. It’s working to find a cure to Type 1 diabetes, a type that begins in childhood. It’s chronic and cannot currently be cured.

Ford CEO Mark Fields was on hand for Friday’s big event. It’s where he also announced the new Raptor Assault performance program for Raptor owners. It’s an off-roading and instruction experience at Ford’s Performance Racing School in Utah.

Ford revived the Raptor this year and we must say, we’re big fans. This beast of a pickup holds a 3.5-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo EcoBoost engine under the hood. It’s good for 450-horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. All the power channels through the new 10-speed automatic It’s the same 10-speed in the new 2018 Mustang.
