If a super SUV is what you had in mind, we bring you the new Maserati Levante Trofeo. It’s the new 590-horsepower range-topping Levante in the lineup recently unveiled at the New York Auto Show.
Maserati Levante Trofeo
The Levante Trofeo is one of the most powerful and fastest production Maserati’s ever thanks to a new 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, built by Ferrari in Maranello, Italy. It’s paired with Maserati’s Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system. Total system output: 590-horses and 538 lb.-ft of torque. It can hit zero to 60 in 3.7 seconds.
It comes with Maserati Integrated Vehicle Control for improved driving dynamics. In a new “Corsa” mode, (“race” in Italian), the suspension drops the SUV’s body lower to the ground while also stiffening it for better control in turns.
Restyled side air intakes and new carbon fiber elements set the Trofeo exterior apart from the lineup, as do 22-inch forged aluminum wheels. (By the way, those wheels are the largest ever fitted on a Maserati.)
The engine cover gets special treatment, too. It’s made of high-gloss carbon fiber with a V-8 inscription and the iconic Trident logo. The cylinder heads and intake manifolds are painted red.
Inside the cabin, sport seats are wrapped in full-grain “Pieno Fiore” natural leather. You also find new matte carbon fiber trim and paddle shifters. It features specific instrument cluster graphics, floor mats with metal Trofeo badges and a Maserati clock. It’s also outfitted with a 1,280-watt, 17-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound audio system.
Limited Series Launch Edition
Maserati will offer a limited Levante Trofeo launch edition. It’s available in eight unique exterior colors with either 22-inch forged aluminum wheels or 21-inch wheels. Inside, “Pieno Fiore” leather sport seats come in black, tan or red with contrast stitching. Black leather with blue or yellow stitching is exclusive to the launch edition and all feature the new matte carbon fiber wave interior trim. Customers will even get a serialized launch edition badge integrated on the center console with their name on it.
The production model goes on sale in late summer.
