Some Mazda fans won’t have to bemoan the lack of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for much longer.
The automaker is finally getting around to syncing both smartphone services into its lineup. First up: the 2018 Mazda6. The sedan goes on sale this month, but the integration won’t happen until this summer.
When it does, both Apple CarPlay or Android Auto will come standard on four trims starting with the Touring. (Sorry, the base Sport trim is left out of this party.) Customers who bought a 2018 Mazda6 before the feature was available will be able to get the upgrade.
Mazda has been one of the holdouts when it comes to smartphone integration. Toyota was, too, until just recently. The automaker will offer Apple CarPlay in the new Avalon, Corolla, and RAV4.
No word yet on which Mazda vehicle could get synced up to your smartphone next.
