Mazda is recalling 2013-2016 CX-5 models over a serious safety issue involving fuel leaks. It is possible fuel leaks could occur in rear end crashes resulting in a fire.
Mazda says the problem is with a fuel filler pipe that could rupture during a rear collision. If that happens, and fuel leaks out, it could increase the risk of a fire.
Mazda says it hasn’t received any reports of crashes or injuries related to the issue. But along with filing a safety defect report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, it’s also issued a stop sale for all 2013-2016 CX-5 models.
If a customer has concerns about driving their vehicle before the repair is available, Mazda dealers will offer a free loaner, demo, or rental vehicle.
