McLaren is expanding its footprint in America.
The automaker is confirming plans to open four new showrooms in the U.S. as its entry-level Sports Series cars begin to arrive.
It will open new retailers in Houston, Boston, Palm Beach and Bergen County, New Jersey. The new dealer in Houston will be owned by long-time Car Pro Dealer Park Place, based out of Dallas.
“Each joins us with a wealth of experience in their local markets, and we look forward to having them support the brand during this period of considerable sales growth,” says McLaren North America president Tony Joseph.
The expansion comes with the arrival of the 570S Coupe, which starts at an entry-level $184,900. McLaren started delivering the first ones in December. The new showrooms will also offer models from the Super Series range, which consists of the groundbreaking McLaren 650S in Coupe and Spider derivatives, and the newly-announced 675LT Spider.
McLaren set sales records in 2015, selling 1,650 vehicles. But it wants to bump that number up dramatically this year. The automaker’s goal is to sell 4,000 cars in 2015. It’s added 250 new jobs and a second shift in the McLaren Production Centre to help make that happen. But unlike most other high-end marques, the company has no plans to merge with a large conglomerate to reach its sales marks.
McLaren will have 22 retail locations in North America with the addition of the four new showrooms, with 80 retailers spread across the globe.
