Mercedes-Benz will launch a station wagon version of its CLA compact sedan in 2015, according to company sources.
The wagon, dubbed the CLA Shooting Brake, will be similar in style to the larger CLS Shooting Brake and will offer more rear headroom and cargo space than the CLA sedan.
It will be the fifth model derived from Daimler’s compact, front-wheel-drive platform, joining the A-class and B-class hatchbacks, CLA compact sedan and GLA crossover. Of those models, only the CLA is offered in the United States; the B class will come early next year as an electric only, and the GLA will follow next September.
It is unclear whether the CLA Shooting Brake will be sold in the United States.
Meanwhile, sources say a long-rumored CLA convertible derivative is off the table, as is a lower and shorter roadster. But those variations could come with the next iteration of the platform, which is about five years away.
