If you thought Chevrolet Camaro owned the Transformers movies and that Dodge muscle cars dominated Fast and Furious 6, get ready to see Ford exact its revenge.
Ford has a deal to have a Mustang star in a new Need for Speed movie, based on the video game of the same name. The agreement was inked with DreamWorks Studios for a movie to be released next March.
The deal was announced at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles. Ford unveiled the film’s four-wheeled star, a specially built Mustang, for the film. It has a supercharged V-8 engine and 22-inch wheels.
As for human stars, look for Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Dominic Cooper (Captain America), Imogen Poots (Fright Night) and Michael Keaton (Batman). It is being directed by Scott Waugh (Act of Valor).
“‘The Need for Speed movie will embody everything that fans of action-racing films want to see – hot cars, high-stakes street racing and mind-blowing stunts,” says Waugh in a statement. “The adrenaline-fueled story across America will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.”
Ford boasts that the Mustang has showed up in more than 3,000 movies over the decades, from James Bond’s Goldfinger to Steve McQueen’s Bullitt.
