New 2017 MINI John Works Clubman Turns Up the Torque

Mini is amping up its flagship Clubman lineup with the 2017 John Works Clubman. It’s the torquiest Mini to date, plus features Mini’s all new four-wheel drive system.

Mini rigs the 2017 John Cooper Clubman with a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo Technology engine. That gives it 228-horses and 258 pound-feet of torque. The drivetrain consists of the new ALL4 all-wheel drive with either a 6-speed manual or an optional 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission.

By the clock, the JCW Clubman goes from 0 to 60 mph in six seconds with both transmissions. The turbo gets pumped with a Launch Control function. It a helps the model gain an optimum traction/acceleration balance no matter the road.


Mini outfits the model with powerful Brembo sport brakes to match its power output. They use 4-piston fixed calipers in the front. So braking balances out the power on road or track.

If you want to go all out, the model offers a Dynamic Damper Control. It lowers the model 0.4 inches. This creates a lower center of gravity, better aerodynamics, and overall improved handling. Round it out with JCW sport suspension and an exclusive body kit with enhanced engine and brake cooling.


Okay so aside from sporty handling, the JCW Clubman makes sure that everyone on the road knows what you’re driving.

It adds to the obvious Mini stand out design cues with special JCW features. Check out the JCW black 18-inch Grip Spoke Wheels and dual-outlet chrome-tipped exhaust.


The interior differs from the standard Clubman with JCW performance sport seats with connected headrests.

They use Dinamica/fabric material in Carbon Black with red accents. The JCW leather steering wheel adds shift panels with the Steptronic Sports transmission.

The new John Cooper Works Clubman arrives in time for the holidays – hint hint. It cruises into dealerships December.
