Summary

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2013-2018 BMW 328d and 328d xDrive, 2014-2018 328d Sports Wagon and 328d xDrive Sports Wagon, 2014-2016 535d and 535d xDrive, 2015 740Ld xDrive, 2015-2017 X3 xDrive28d SAV and 2014-2017 X5 xDrive35d SAV vehicles equipped with an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) module with an integrated cooler. If the EGR cooler leaks internally, the coolant can mix with diesel engine soot. The high EGR temperatures may result in these particles possibly smoldering and melting the intake manifold.

Remedy

BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the EGR cooler as necessary. If a leak has already occurred, the engine intake manifold will also be replaced. These repairs will be made free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 17, 2018. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

KIA

Summary

Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2018 Kia Stinger vehicles. The front wiring harness located in the engine and passenger compartment may get damaged from contacting a burr on the left fender body panel.

Remedy

Kia will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the wiring harness for damage. If no damage is found, a cover will be installed. If damage is found, the wiring harness will be repaired and a cover will be installed, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 20, 2018. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia’s number for this recall SC170.

FORD/LINCOLN

Ford is issuing a recall for approximately 38,000 select 2018 Ford Expedition and 2018 Lincoln Navigator vehicles with second-row center bench seats that may be missing J-channel reinforcement brackets in the seat track assembly. A seat track missing one or both J-channel reinforcement brackets may not properly restrain the seat assembly during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Dealers will inspect the seats to determine if both J-channel brackets are installed. If one or both brackets are missing, dealers will replace the center seat frame assembly at no charge to customers. Until the vehicle can be serviced for this concern, customers should move the seat back to its furthest position away from the front of the vehicle.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from this condition.

Affected vehicles include:

  • 2018 Ford Expedition vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant, March 14, 2017 to Aug. 18, 2018
  • 2018 Lincoln Navigator vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant, March 31, 2017 to Aug. 18, 2018

There are approximately 37,801 vehicles in North America, with 34,946 in the United States and federalized territories, 1,900 in Canada and 955 in Mexico. The Ford reference number for this recall is 18S37.

SUBARU/SCION

Summary

Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2012-2014 Subaru Impreza, 2012-2013 Impreza Stationwagon, 2013 Subaru BRZ, XV Crosstrek and Toyota Scion FR-S vehicles. The engine valve springs in these vehicles may fracture causing an engine malfunction or a possible engine stall.

Remedy

Subaru will notify their owners. Toyota will notify the FR-S owners. Dealers will replace the valve springs, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Subaru owners may contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614, Toyota owners may contact the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-888-270-9371. Subaru’s number for this recall is WTY-84.

SUBARU

Summary

Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2018 Subaru Legacy and Outback vehicles. Due to a software error, the low fuel warning light may not illuminate at the intended remaining fuel level and the miles-to-empty display may incorrectly indicate a positive number despite the tank being empty.

Remedy

Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the combination meter software, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614. Subaru’s number for this recall is WTW-82.
