New Toyota Avalon Details – Car Pro News

Toyota set prices for the redesigned 2013 Avalon sedan: $31,785 for the base XLE V-6 gasoline model and $36,350 for the lowest-price gas-electric hybrid version. Prices include a $795 shipping charge.
This is the first time Avalon has offered a hybrid model.
The starting price of the 2013 low-end model is a cut of $2,170 from last year’s base version, but the starting price of the high-end Limited is $3,250 more than the model it replaces.
Avalon, on sale the first week of December, is bigger than the midsize Camry, with which it shares some components, but still is classed a midsize car under government standards. Many shoppers think of it as a full-size model, however.
Toyota considers it the brand’s flagship, so tried to jazz up the styling. The look is a harbinger of Toyota styling changes as the brand works toward a more exciting image.
Starting prices:
•XLE Premium, $33,990 (gasoline), $36,350 (hybrid)
•XLE Touring, $36,295 (gasoline), $38,045 (hybrid)
•Limited, $40,445 (gasoline), $42,195 (hybrid).
The 2012 version being replaced was available in just two trim levels. The base model started at $33,435, and high-end Limited was $37,195, including 2012-models’ $760 shipping charge.
Toyota says the hybrid’s price premium of $1,750 to $2,360 is the lowest of any of its vehicles, but it’s not lowest in the industry. Ford Motor’s Lincoln brand prices the MKZ hybrid sedan the same as the gasoline model, and GM’s Buick sets the same starting price for its LaCrosse gas and hybrid versions.
Avalon’s fuel-economy ratings: V-6 gas, 21 mpg in the city, 31 on the highway, 24 or 25 mpg in city/highway mix, depending on wheel size. The Hybrid is rated at 40/39/40 mpg.
