Chevrolet is offering a special edition Tahoe for 2018. But unlike some special editions, the new 2018 Tahoe Custom won’t come with a higher price point. It actually comes with a lower one because it comes without extras.
The Custom starts $3,515 less than the current 2017 base LS model. We’re talking $44,995 with destination charges. (The 2017 LS starts at $48,510.)
The Custom focuses on cargo space and towing without the fancy options. For instance, you won’t get polished 18-inch aluminum wheels, you’ll get painted aluminum ones. Inside, the third-row seat is gone in favor more cargo room. It offers 54 cubic feet of space behind the row, that’s 404 gallons of space for all your gear. Lower the second row to more than double that space.
The Custom can tow 6,600 pounds. If you add on the optional trailering package it bumps to an 8,600 pound total. The Tahoe Custom comes with the 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque.
Chevy equips the Tahoe with an Active Fuel Management system that helps the model get a great 23-mpg highway. Standard front active shutters help boost the highway mileage as well.
Like all Tahoe models, you can opt for either two-wheel and four-wheel drive option. The Custom Edition comes with Teen Driver, remote start, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It comes standard with GM’s Rear Seat Reminder as well, which we’re huge proponents of with the recent push to keep kids getting left in hot cars. The full safety features in the Enhanced Driver Alert Package are Forward Collision Alert, Safety Alert Driver Seat, IntelliBeam Headlamps with automatic high-beam, Lane Keep Assist and Low-Speed Forward Automatic Braking.
The new Custom Package will arrive on 2018 Tahoe’s starting next month.
