Nissan is expanding its dark side. It’s adding five more models to the Midnight Edition lineup. In addition to the Maxima SR, it will be offered on the Sentra, Altima, Rogue, Murano, and Pathfinder models as well. The big announcement came this week at the Chicago Auto Show.
Expanding the Midnight Edition trim is a no brainer, since it’s sold so well on the Maxima SR. The automaker says it now accounts for 85 percent of all SR sales.
The Midnight Edition’s are blacked-out versions of the standard models. The all include blacked wheels, spoilers, mirror caps, and special floor mats.
Colors differ in name per model. But you basically get a choice of four colors: red, white, gray metallic, and – naturally – black.
The Midnight package isn’t offered on all the trims, only those that fall towards the top of the line. It’s usually is a sportier take on the model. So you can get it on the Sentra SR and SR Turbo along with the Maxima SR. Sorry, but it’s not an option for the Sentra Nismo.
The SUVs include things like black roof rails, cross bars, splash guards, and rear bumper. The Pathfinder and Rogue editions also throw in illuminated kick plates. The Pathfinder also features a sweet chrome bumper.
All but the Rogue Midnight Edition models are on sale now. It joins the Midnight pack in March. The packages run from around $500 to $1200 depending on the model.
