Premiere Edition Corvettes Coming – Car Pro News

premier edition corvettesGeneral Motors Co. announced Friday that it will produce a limited number of 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe Premiere Editions, which are top-of-the-line 3LT models.
The Detroit automaker said just 500 will be made. It comes in a laguna blue exterior and features a carbon-fiber roof, variable tuned performance exhaust and the Z51 Performance Package with magnetic selective ride control. It also includes a “stinger” stripe on the hood and Stingray logos on the sill plates and caps on the wheels.
The Premiere Edition ’Vettes also get a special vehicle identification number, beginning with 300001, and a unique dash plaque. Buyers also receive Thule’s Corvette-branded luggage.
Chevrolet spokesman Monte Doran said pricing is not available yet for the Premiere Edition. It is estimated to cost more than $75,000, as a loaded Stingray with all options costs about $73,000.
Customers interested in a Premiere Edition Stingray should contact their Chevrolet dealer, Doran said.
GM will build the seventh-generation sports car at its Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky. GM is scheduled to begin selling the first Stingrays, which start at $51,995, by late September. A Stingray convertible will be available late in the year.
GM is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Corvette. The first Corvette rolled off the assembly line on June 30, 1953 in Flint. More than 1.5 million have been produced since.
Earlier Friday, the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky., held a groundbreaking for a 20 million dual track motorsports facility. The track will sit on 184 acres and the museum said it could be used for vehicle testing, drivers’ training programs and other events.
Fisher-Price also announced that it will build a Power Wheels Corvette Stingray, a replica of the new Corvette with its own “chrome” wheels and speeds reaching 6 miles per hour. The new Power Wheels was scheduled to be shown during 60th anniversary events at the National Corvette Museum. The battery-powered Power Wheels Stingray will hit stores nationally in September. It’s the first Power Wheels Corvette in 25 years.
