Toyota-Donating-100-Cars-in-100-Days

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Tundra, Sequoia, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and Scion xB, 2008-2011 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2006-2011 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, and 2009-2010 Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. During the manufacturing of the Power Window Master Switch (PWMS), grease lubricant may have been inconsistently applied to the sliding electrical contacts.

CONSEQUENCE:

If the sliding electrical contacts are not protected by lubricant, debris and moisture that get into the switch may cause a short circuit and the switch assembly may overheat and melt, increasing the risk of a fire.

REMEDY:

Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the switch, applying a lubricant if no abnormality is found. If abnormality is found, the PWMS circuit board will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 20, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota’s number for this recall is C0M.

NOTES:

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Fiat Chrysler said it is recalling over 143,000 light trucks and SUVs in two voluntary recalls to address potential safety concerns.

The automaker said it would recall 67,681 2015 and 2016 Ram 1500s built between mid-June and late September of this year to inspect and replace as needed their rear-axle shafts or rear axles.

The company said an investigation found that a supplier may not have properly heat-treated the axle shafts, a condition that could cause them to suffer increased wear and overheating “sufficient to illuminate a vehicle’s Anti-lock Brake System warning light.”

FCA said it was aware of one potentially related non-injury accident relative to the defect, and it advised customers whose ABS warning light illuminates to contact their dealer. The automaker said most of the affected vehicles are still in dealer inventory.

FCA also said it would call back 75,364 2015 Jeep Cherokees to inspect and potentially replace their air conditioning lines.

The company said it opened an investigation after two complaints to federal regulators of smoke and flame in the engine compartment.

An internal investigation found that the air conditioning lines on some of the Cherokees may have been installed too closely to the engine’s exhaust manifolds, posing a fire risk. FCA said it was unaware of any related injuries or accidents involving the defect.

Nissan Motor Co. expanded a sedan recall for a defect that could lead to fuel leaks during crashes to nearly 47,000 Altimas and Maximas.

The recall impacts 28,198 Altimas from the 2013-16 model years and 18,648 Maximas from the 2016 model year, according to a document filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Nissan said an improperly installed O-ring can lead to a fuel leak during a crash, potentially leading to a fire.

The company said dealerships will install a retainer ring between the fuel tank and fuel-sending unit to fix the problem free of charge after contacting customers.

The recall began in July when about 5,500 2016 Maximas were recalled. Nissan expanded the recall Oct. 14.
