While disappointing, this isn’t exactly surprising. Jeep is reportedly delaying an ambitious plan to revive its Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer nameplates. The good news is at least the automaker isn’t scrapping plans all together, yet, anyway.
We’ve been hearing for months that Fiat Chrysler had these new full-size SUVs in the works. But then came word that FCA pushed back the launch of both to at least 2019. Now, it looks like the project has been suspended indefinitely although not outright canceled according to Automotive News. The report cites info from two suppliers who say the Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer project is on hold.
Fiat Chrysler is saying mum on the project so we’ll have to stay tuned to see what develops. The automaker certainly has plenty to keep it busy with the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler, a Wrangler-based pickup and all-new Ram 1500.
